Spring and warmer weather is upon us. Soon the days of bundling up and wearing thick socks will be over and will instead give way to warmer weather and outdoor activities. As we ditch those winter galoshes and lace up those running shoes, here are a few tips and reminders for caring for your feet.

Tips In Maintaing Healthy Feet Into Spring

Choose The Right Footwear:  It is always ideal to use this time to inspect our shoes. Make sure your tread is not worn thin. Ensure your shoes are the right size and fit properly. Ill fitting shoes can cause blisters and calluses. Make sure you are rotating your shoes and ventilating them to prevent and reduce the risk of fungal infections.

Practice Good Foot Hygiene: It is important to wash your feet regularly with warm soapy water and dry them thoroughly in between each toe. Change your socks daily to avoid the risk of fungal infections. 

Increased Activity and Foot Fatigue: Wether you prefer running, playing sports, or walking your dog, it is crucial to gently ease into activities. Stretch before and after your activities and take breaks. Stretching exercises and proper foot wear can prevent a flare-up of plantar fasciitis and also prevent muscle strains and or other injuries.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated can prevent muscle cramps and dry skin.

Listen To Your Feet: Pay close attention to signs of pain or discomfort in your feet. This may be a sign of an underlying ailment that needs to be addressed here in the office. Don't ignore your pain. We can help!
